It’s flu season, and most of us can’t afford to get sick. Whether you’re on the road or working in an office, you can be exposed to flu germs.
It’s not all bad news, though. These 5 tips can help you stay healthy this year.
A flu vaccination is the first step in prevention, especially for high-risk populations. Those in high-risk groups are people with asthma, diabetes, heart or lung disease and people age 65 and older.
2. Eat Healthy, Sleep Well
Poor eating and sleeping habits can weaken your immune system. This acts as a big welcome sign to the flu virus. Try to maintain a healthy diet and shoot for 7-9 hours of sleep each night.
3. Don’t Touch Your Eyes, Nose and Mouth
Germs live on several surfaces, including door knobs, kitchen counters, the communal office coffee pot and many others. To prevent germs from spreading, wash your hands frequently with soap and water, and don’t touch your eyes, nose and mouth.
4. Take Your Medicine
If you start having flu symptoms, get to the doctor right away and take any prescribed medicine. Common symptoms include fever, sore throat, cough, chills, fatigue, body aches and headaches.
5. Avoid People With The Flu
The easiest and hardest piece of advice to follow. Be wary of anyone coughing or sneezing, and try to limit physical contact with them.
