How To Stay Hydrated

By | News | No Comments

Hot temperatures have arrived, and it’s more important than ever to stay hydrated.

Whether you drive cross-country for work, or embark on a family road trip, these tips will help you stay hydrated during the summer months.

Combine water with fresh fruit

Not a fan of plain water? Mix it up by adding in your favorite fruits or veggies to create new flavor combinations. Or try sparkling water, which has natural carbonation and all the great benefits of regular water.

Increase electrolytes

If you are dehydrated, drink something with electrolytes to rehydrate faster. However, watch out for added sugars that are often in drinks with electrolytes, such as sports drinks. To limit the amount of extra, unnecessary sugar, try a healthier option like coconut water.

Eat water-rich foods

You don’t have to get your water only in liquid form. Foods such as pineapple, strawberries, celery, cucumber and broccoli also help you rehydrate.

Put your health and body first this summer by staying hydrated. When you’re healthy, everything else falls into place.

Summer Driving Hazards

By | News | No Comments

Summer is here. The ice has melted and no more spring floods.

You’re ready to hit the road!

Or are you?

Before you leave on your annual road trip, it’s important to know what summer driving dangers there are and how to protect yourself.

Tire blowouts

The hot weather causes the air inside your tires to expand, which may result in a blowout in older wheels. Check your tires regularly, especially during a heat wave, to avoid a blowout.

Increased road congestion

You’re not the only one who wants to take a driving vacation. There will be more drivers on the road during the summer months, which could lead to congestion and difficult driving conditions. Be aware of your surroundings and give yourself enough time to get from Point A to Point B.

More teen drivers

We’ve all been there. A new adolescent driver with a fresh license, a car and plenty of free time. Unfortunately, inexperienced teen drivers can create an increased risk for accidents. So when you’re driving, pay attention to other drivers (teens included), so you arrive at your destination safely.

When you know what driving dangers are out there, you can keep yourself safe and enjoy summer road trips.
